How To Choose A Mountain Bike

The first thing you should do before buying a bike for any reason is figure out what your primary ride will be. Most people buy a dual-purpose bike initially, something that can be ridden on and off the road. Finally, when the virus gets big, it's time to invest in a full muscular mountain bike.

One of the differences between mountain bikes and other bikes is that they have very strong and lightweight frames, longer gears, powerful brakes and wide tires. A comfort bike or a leisure weekend bike, tour bikes and touring bikes are designed more for comfort than durability. In the MTB category there are different types of bikes available; the cross-country bike, the test bike, the downhill bike and the jump/slalom bike.

Usually, the largest percentage of mountain bikes sold are in the Cross-Country or XC classification. They are good dual purpose bikes. They are light and good for rough terrain, but they are also comfortable for road riding.

Jump/slalom bikes are also good dual purpose bikes. They are very solid and have excellent suspension.

Downhill and test bikes are intended for experienced mountain bikers. Downhill bikes have both front and rear suspension, disc break and are very strong. A trial bike is intended for a very experienced cyclist. Trail running itself is a very competitive sport that requires a lot of precision. Most downhill and trail riders build their bikes from the ground up, choosing each component individually.

You want to read a lot about the different types of bikes and you want to visit many bike shops. A cross country mountain bike can cost anywhere from $ 600 to $ 800 or more. Some bikers say your first bike should be the best bike you can afford, even if you think there are too many bikes for you. If you first buy a low-end bike and then later want to change components, it can be expensive. Before you choose a bike, you want to ride it. Most dealers allow a 15 to 20 minute test drive. When doing a test drive, make sure you go 'off-road” when you can, even if it is over edges and grass. You want to get a feel for the bike.
